Job summary

Spectrum Vision Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe/Tech – Level 1 to support physicians at our Stamford, CT site. You will handle patient intake, review histories, perform routine eye tests, and document interactions in real time in the EMR.

In this cross-trained role, you will assist with examinations and minor procedures while maintaining accurate records, patient flow, and a positive patient experience. Training to complete Level 1 competency occurs within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• EMR/EHR experience preferred (NextGen preferred but not required).
• Knowledge of ocular terminology preferred.
• Customer service and/or medical experience preferred but not required.
• Strong documentation, typing, communication and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and cross-train in scribe and technician duties.
• Completion of the Ophthalmic Scribe-Tech Level 1 competency checklist within 90 days of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity, prepare patients for examinations, and document histories, medications, and allergies.
• Conduct routine ophthalmic testing and assist with examinations and minor procedures.
• Record provider interactions, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and patient instructions in the EMR.
• Track testing, medication, and follow-up orders and maintain patient records.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; follow infection prevention protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and staff to support safe, efficient care.
