Job summary

Spectrum Vision Partners / OCLI Vision is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe/Tech – Level 1 to support physicians in delivering high-quality eye care at our East Haven, CT clinic. This cross-trained role handles patient intake, routine testing, and real-time EMR documentation to ensure smooth patient flow.

You will document interactions, assist with examinations and minor procedures, and maintain accurate, complete patient records while collaborating with physicians and the clinical team to deliver

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with EMR/EHR applications preferred; NextGen is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and ophthalmic terminology preferred.
• Previous customer service and/or medical experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong documentation, typing, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and cross-train in scribe and technician duties.
• Completion of the Ophthalmic Scribe-Tech Level 1 competency checklist within 90 days of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Patient Intake & History: Verify patient identity, prepare patients for examinations, and document medical and ocular histories, medications, and allergies.
• Vision & Clinical Testing: Conduct routine ophthalmic testing within training and competency and assist with examinations and minor procedures.
• Real-Time Documentation: Accurately record provider interactions, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and patient instructions in the EMR.
• Orders & Follow-Up: Track testing, medication, and follow-up orders and maintain complete patient records.
• Clinical Operations & Safety: Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; follow infection prevention protocols and universal precautions.
• Teamwork & Patient Flow: Work collaboratively with physicians, technicians, and clinical staff to support safe, efficient, patient-centered care.
