Job summary

Eye Health America, in partnership with Carolina Centers for Sight, seeks an ophthalmic scribe to accurately document ocular examinations and maintain patient flow in a busy ophthalmology practice. You will summarize physician notes, record assessments and treatment recommendations, and support billing processes as directed.

Minimum of two years in a medical office and scribe certification are expected; training is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a medical office.
• Scribe certification (preferably certified ophthalmic assistant).

Responsibilities

• Summarizes and documents physician verbalizations during exams, including charting and documenting assessments and treatment recommendations.
• Observes the patient and physician and assists during the exam.
• Maintains awareness of patient communication for providing written instructions and education materials.
• Completes superbill or billing orders as directed and guides the patient to the next step.
• Familiarizes with exact requirements of each examination.
