Job summary

Eye Health America LLC, in partnership with Carolinas Centers for Sight, is seeking an ophthalmic scribe to provide accurate documentation of ocular examinations and to help maintain patient flow and appointment communication.

You will summarize and document physician verbalizations, chart the examination, assist during the exam, and, when directed, complete superbills or billing orders. You will learn the exact requirements of each examination.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a medical office, preferably an ophthalmology office.
• Scribe certification (preferably certified ophthalmic assistant).

Responsibilities

• Summarizes and documents what the physician verbalizes during an examination, including charting the examination, documenting additions to the chief complaint, assessment, and treatment recommendations.
• Observes the patient and the physician and assists during the exam.
• Maintains awareness of patient communication to reiterate information and provide written instructions or patient education materials.
• Completes the superbill or billing orders and check-out form as directed by the physician.
• Becomes fluent in the exact requirements of each examination.
