Job summary

The role includes completing superbills and billing orders as directed, observing physicians during exams, and ensuring precise charting and patient education materials when needed. Two years in a medical office and a certified ophthalmic scribe credential are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a medical office, preferably an ophthalmology office.
• Scribe certification (preferably certified ophthalmic assistant).

Responsibilities

• Correctly summarize and document the physician's examination, including chief complaint, assessment, and treatment recommendations.
• Observe the patient and physician during the exam and assist as appropriate.
• Maintain awareness of verbal and non‑verbal instructions to provide written materials and patient education as needed.
• Complete superbill or billing orders and guide the patient during checkout when directed by the physician.
• Become fluent in the exact requirements of each examination.
