Job summary

Texas Retina Associates seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians in the Dallas Main Office and potentially travel to other locations. The role involves patient workups, testing, examinations and documentation as a scribe, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and a sterile, safe environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 2+ years in ophthalmic tech, and is proficient with NextGen and patient management systems, with COA/COT preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or GED).
• Two years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician required.
• COA or COT certification and retinal practice experience preferred.
• Training in medical terminology required.
• Experience with NextGen and Patient Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Alert physician when medical record is incomplete or documentation contains mistakes or inconsistencies.
• Collect, organize and catalog data for physician quality reporting system and other quality initiatives to increase patient compliance and improve outcomes.
• Document medical visits and procedures accurately and thoroughly as they are performed by the physician.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist during physician exam.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and a safe environment for staff and patients.
• Must be able to travel and ensure travel equipment is maintained.
• Ensures technicians have the training and expertise to ensure patients are screened and appropriate tests are performed.
• Return patient phone calls in a timely manner.
• Escort patients to examining rooms, verify patient information and document in charts.
