Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of specialized ophthalmic experience is desirable or completion of on-the-job training upon hiring.
• Experience as a scribe is preferred.
• Experience as an ophthalmic technician is a PLUS!
• Healthcare background (such as a pharmacy technician, medical assistant, or similar clinical role) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make introductions and establish rapport with patients and document chief complaints and ocular findings accurately.
• Document medical visits and procedures in real time as performed by physicians and nurses.
• Prepare referral letters and coordinate referrals with referring physicians.
• Explain tests to patients and educate on risks, benefits, and post-procedure care.
• Educate patients on medications and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.
