Job summary

Midwest Eye Consultants is seeking a Scribe to support physicians during patient exams by transcribing data into the patient chart and aiding the clinical team with administrative tasks. You’ll help obtain histories, perform preliminary testing, and prepare the exam room while ensuring a smooth patient flow and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous experience in optometry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• During the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor.
• Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
• Escort the patient to Optical and introduce to the Optician, reiterating the doctor’s recommendations.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
• Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
• Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
• Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by leadership.
• Prepare patients for eye examinations and vision therapy; confidentially instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures.
• Perform various vision and diagnostic tests.
• Collect patient medical history and enter data into EHR.
• Assist with answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and effectively maintaining appointment books for doctors, as well as assist in completing recalls.
• Occasional travel to support other offices may be requested.
