Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its ophthalmology surgery team. The role supports full continuum of care in pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases, with training in circulating and scrubbing roles.

The caregiver works part-time days 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with weekend and after-hours call rotations. Orientation includes a six-month OR training program and opportunities to cross-train in other surgical specialties at Main Campus.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
• One year RN experience required or completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures
• Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies
• Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning
• Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use
