Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus Ophthalmology Surgical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support surgeons and RNs in a high-volume eye surgery environment. You will prepare sterile fields, maintain supplies, pass instruments, and assist with sterilization per procedures. The role involves days plus on-call shifts from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

or 10:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. after orientation, with on-site within 1 hour for on-call.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP/ABHES or CST/TS-C certification, or military program completion, or LPN license.
• BLS certification required by AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Perform scrub functions and assist circulating nurse under RN supervision.
• Set up sterile table, ensure supplies, drugs and equipment are available.
• Assist RN in counting sponges and instruments during surgery.
• Assist with gowning/gloving and draping of surgical team; maintain aseptic conditions.
• Participate in intraoperative timeout and specimen handling.
• Coordinate outpatient clinic flow and assist with scheduling, when in ambulatory settings.
