Job summary

Prism Vision Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to work onsite at NJRetina in Roxbury Township, NJ. You will perform tests, record histories, and assist physicians to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatment plans, while maintaining documentation and patient services.

Responsibilities include chart review, testing (OCT, visual fields, photography), scribing, medication administration, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or higher; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• OA1/OAII Experience: 0-2 years OA1, 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• Strong knowledge of patient history, testing procedures, and EMR documentation.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs tests (OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exams with tonometry and angle assessment.
• Acts as scribe, enters data into EMR or charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with informed consent and patient education.
• Manages patient flow and maintains exam room cleanliness.
• Complies with procedures and regulations.
