Job summary

Prism Vision Group's Eye Care Surgery Center in Westfield, NJ is hiring an Ophthalmic Assistant. This onsite, non-exempt position supports physicians by performing measurements, tests, and documentation to aid diagnosis and treatment, while providing excellent patient service.

You will assist with exams including OCT, visual fields, tonometry, and biometry, maintain EMR records, and help manage patient flow.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.
• Ophthalmic Assistant II Experience: 2+ years of prior ophthalmic assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing required by exam: OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam and tonometry.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with informed consent and patient education.
• Maintains exam room cleanliness and patient flow.
