Job summary

NJ Retina, Morristown, NJ, part of Prism Vision Group, is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to perform measurements and tests that support diagnosis and treatment decisions, onsite at our Morristown office.

This role involves reviewing charts, taking ocular history, performing OCT and other tests, documenting in EMR, and assisting physicians. Occasional travel to other locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs tests such as OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, Slit Lamp exam and related checks.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Assists with medications and patient education.
• Manages patient flow and maintains exam room cleanliness.
• Adheres to procedures, regulations, and safety standards.
