Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) to work under supervision of a licensed clinician in outpatient ophthalmology clinics and procedures. The role blends hands-on clinical care, diagnostic testing, and patient interaction to support ophthalmologists and the care team in evaluating eye conditions.

Responsibilities include testing, imaging, recording histories and vitals, administering eye drops, and assisting with laser treatments and injections.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience cannot be substituted for the required education.
• COA credential through JCAHPO is required.

Responsabilités

• Perform ophthalmic testing, vision assessments, and diagnostic imaging.
• Obtain and document patient histories, visual acuities, vital signs, and other clinical measurements.
• Administer ophthalmic medications and diagnostic eye drops.
• Assist ophthalmologists with office-based procedures, including laser treatments and injections.
• Prepare patients, examination rooms, and procedural areas for examinations and treatments.
• Maintain ophthalmic equipment and ensure infection prevention standards.
