Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to support outpatient eye care. You will perform a range of tests and imaging, assist clinicians with procedures, and handle administrative tasks to ensure smooth patient flow in a busy ophthalmology clinic located at 243-245 Charles Street.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, and a COA credential with at least 6 months of ophthalmology clinic experience or ICA training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• COA credential (JCAHPO) required.
• At least 6 months of experience in a supervised ophthalmology clinic, or completion of an Assistant-level training program through ICA, required.

Responsabilités

• Perform vision and ophthalmic tests, imaging, and assessments to prepare patients for comprehensive eye examinations with a licensed clinician.
• Identify and administer diagnostic eye drops as part of routine examinations and as directed by the clinician.
• Assist ophthalmologists with minor office-based procedures, including medical laser treatments, injections, cryotherapy, and oculoplastic procedures.
• Measure and record patient vital signs as needed for procedures and other clinical purposes.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate supplies in examination rooms and clinical areas.
• Clean, calibrate, and perform basic maintenance on ophthalmic equipment per guidelines and infection prevention standards.
• Handle, store, and transport specimens, instruments, and medications per established protocols.
• Provide cross-coverage for other services and locations within the ophthalmology department as needed.
