AtriusHealth is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) to join our ophthalmology team at Chestnut Hill. The COA will perform preliminary eye function testing, collect medical history, and support clinicians with diagnostic procedures.

Qualifications

• COA certification by JCAHPO or NCLE per ophthalmology norms.
• Proven medical history taking ability.
• Knowledge of basic visual testing and diagnostic procedures.
• Computer and EMR experience; able to learn EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients, collect comprehensive medical/ocular history and document in the EMR.
• Perform vision tests and preliminary ophthalmic assessments (e.g., slit lamp, tonometry, OCT, visual fields).
• Assist with minor surgical procedures and ensure sterile technique and instrument handling.
• Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment; ensure cleanliness and readiness of instruments.
• Educate patients on medications and procedures; may assist with administrative duties.
