Job summary

Loyola is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician for a Maywood-based role with travel to Burr Ridge, Hickory Hills and Oakbrook Terrace as needed. Monday through Friday Day Shift.

The position involves providing patient care, performing specialized ophthalmic testing, and conducting basic eye exams to support diagnosis and treatment. Requires an Associate degree or Ophthalmic Technician Program; certification within the first year of employment. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent training in ophthalmic technology.
• Completion of Ophthalmic Technician Program or related credential.
• Staff must become certified ophthalmic assistants within the first year of employment.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care including specialized ophthalmic testing, triage and patient teaching.
• Perform basic and routine eye examination procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
• Explain diagnostic and treatment procedures to patients.

Minimum Education

Required: Associates Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education

Specify Degree(s): Ophthalmic Technician Program

Minimum Experience

Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience

Possess demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in manual refraction and applanation tonometry to support comprehensive ophthalmic care.

Preferred: At least one (1) year of previous job-related experience, highly preferred.

After graduation from an ophthalmic technician education course, staff in the Ophthalmic Assistant position are required to become certified ophthalmic assistants within the first year of employment.

Compensation

Pay Range: $22.18 - $29.55 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
