Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience; OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry) as per exam.
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exam with tonometry and anterior chamber assessment.
• Performs advanced ophthalmic procedures as needed.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with adherence to procedures and informed consent.
• Assists with patient education and flow management.
• Maintains exam room cleanliness and orderliness.
• Complies with procedures and regulations.
• Reports potential errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer.
• Maintains professional conduct and cooperation.
