Job summary

Surgery Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to work closely with clinic physicians. The role includes documenting medical records, inputting treatment recommendations, and performing a range of ophthalmic functions.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of ophthalmic scribe experience, HS diploma or GED, and may have JCAHPO certification or CPR. Strong communication, confidentiality, and EMR proficiency are essential in a fast-paced, team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 Year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferred
• JCAHPO certification preferred
• CPR preferred
• HIPAA knowledge and compliance

Responsibilities

• Obtains accurate patient history
• Performs lensometry
• Performs diagnostic testing of the eye with basic ophthalmic tests
• Obtains accurate visual acuities
• Measures ocular function (color vision, refractometry, etc.)
• Administers topical ophthalmic medications
• Performs tonometry by tonopen or applanation
• Maintains and sterilizes surgical instruments
• Assists physicians with punctual plugs
• Explains post-operative instructions clearly to patients
• Proficiency in ophthalmic pharmacology
• Proficient in EMR and computer literacy
