This full-time, non-exempt position requires documenting patient information in EMR, performing tests such as OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, and biometry, and assisting with exams, medications, consent, and patient education while maintaining exam room cleanliness and workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s preferred.
• OA-I experience: 0-2 years of ophthalmic assistant experience; OA-II: 2+ years.
• Basic computer data entry in EMR.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Record ocular and systemic histories and visual acuity.
• Perform tests such as OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, and biometry.
• Carry out lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam including tonometry.
• Scribe during physician examination and enter data into EMR.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications and obtain consent.
• Assist with patient education and maintain exam room readiness.
• Oversee patient flow and ensure compliance with procedures.
