Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • OA1: 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience; OAII: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Take ocular/systemic history and record visual acuity.
  • Perform tests (OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
  • Conduct lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exams with tonometry and depth tests.
  • Assist with advanced ophthalmic procedures and scribing in EMR or paper charts.
  • Administer topical/oral medications and ensure informed consent.
  • Educate patients and manage patient flow; maintain exam room cleanliness.
  • Adhere to procedures, regulations, and reporting of errors.
