Job summary

Atrius Health in Plymouth, MA is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support clinicians with eye care. You will perform preliminary workups, document histories in the EMR, and conduct ophthalmic testing including slit lamp and tonometry.

The role requires COA eligibility or certification, strong medical knowledge, and the ability to travel between locations as needed. A comprehensive benefits package is offered with salary based on experience.

Qualifications

• Willingness to obtain COA within two years from hire.
• Proven general medical knowledge and history-taking ability.
• Proven knowledge of basic visual testing and diagnostic procedures.
• Computer experience with word processing and spreadsheets; EMR experience.
• Ability to travel between locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients and documents comprehensive medical/ocular history in EMR.
• Performs vision tests, vital signs, and preliminary ophthalmic assessments (e.g., slit lamp, tonometry, OCT, visual fields).
• Assists with minor surgical procedures and ensures sterile technique and instrument handling.
• Operates and maintains ophthalmic equipment and lasers; ensures instrument readiness and cleanliness.
• Educates patients on medications and procedures; may assist in administrative duties.
