Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant at our Concord, MA site. You will greet patients, perform ophthalmic tests, assist with procedures, and help maintain equipment in a busy eye clinic.

Requirements include willingness to obtain COA within two years, EMR experience, basic computer skills, and the ability to travel between locations if needed. The role offers an hourly wage and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Willingness to obtain COA certification within two years from date of hire.
• Computer experience with word processing and spreadsheets; EMR experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new ophthalmic skills and procedures.
• Willing or able to travel between locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients; collects comprehensive ocular and medical history and documents in EMR.
• Performs vision tests, vital signs and ophthalmic assessments (slit lamp, tonometry, OCT, visual fields).
• Assists with minor procedures, applies eye dressings, maintains sterile technique and instruments.
• Operates and maintains ophthalmic equipment; ensures readiness of instruments and lasers.
• Educates patients on medications/procedures; may assume medical secretary duties as needed.
