Job summary

McFarland Clinic has an opening for an energetic Ophthalmic Assistant at its Ames Eye Care Center. The role supports ophthalmic exams, minor and laser procedures, and patient prep in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, with ophthalmic training desired. On-the-job training offered; background checks are required. Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, benefits package included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or HiSET required.
• Graduate from an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program preferred.
• Ophthalmic experience preferred but on-the-job training available.
• Excellent customer service and ability to multi-task.
• Keyboard and computer experience required.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for exams or treatments.
• Takes visual acuity and basic screening tests.
• Administers necessary medications, orders lab and x-ray procedures.
• Performs other duties as directed by the provider.
• Sets up and assists with minor surgery and laser surgery.
