Job summary

Comprehensive EyeCare Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmologists in patient care and clinic operations. You will perform eye exams, assist with diagnostic tests, and help with clerical duties in a fast-paced practice.

The role emphasizes patient education, prescription refill support, and strict HIPAA compliance while contributing to efficient clinic flow across locations.

Qualifications

  • One-year experience in a customer facing position preferred.
  • Medical related experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Proficient in use of internet.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologists with specialized eye exam testing and streamline patient flow.
  • Perform diagnostic testing such as Visual Aids, OCT, and corneal topography.
  • Provide phone support for prescription refills as authorized by the physician.
  • Educate patients on medication administration and pre/post operative instructions.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties and other tasks as assigned.

Position Summary

An Ophthalmic Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. They assist with both clinical and administrative tasks, contributing to the efficient operation of the practice.

All 5 locations - M-F: 7:15AM to 4:15PM
Roles And Responsibilities
  • Ability to perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
  • Other diagnostic testing such as: Visual Aids, OCT, Corneal topography, etc...
  • Providing phone support with request for prescription refills as authorized by the physician.
  • Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
  • Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, such as HIPPA guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Assists with opening and closing duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
