Job summary

Comprehensive EyeCare Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmologists with clinical testing and efficient patient flow in Austin, TX.

You will perform specialized eye exams, assist with tests such as OCT and corneal topography, and handle related administrative tasks. This role requires HIPAA compliance, strong communication, and basic software skills including MS Word, Outlook and Excel.

Qualifications

  • One year of customer-facing experience is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Proficient in use of internet.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as Visual Aids, OCT, corneal topography, etc.
  • Provide phone support for prescription refill requests as authorized by the physician.
  • Educate patients regarding medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

An Ophthalmic Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ability to perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
  • Other diagnostic testing such as: Visual Aids, OCT, Corneal topography, etc.

  • Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.

Experience Requirements
  • One‑year experience in a customer‑facing position preferred.
  • Medical related experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Proficient in use of internet.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
