Job summary

Comprehensive EyeCare Partners seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality eye care. You will help with exams, patient flow, and clerical duties at our Austin clinic.

The role includes patient education on medications and pre-/post-operative care, along with HIPAA-compliant handling of medical information and coordinating front-desk tasks to streamline operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of customer-facing experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to educate patients on medications and post-operative care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologists with eye exams and diagnostic testing such as OCT and corneal topography.
  • Provide phone support for prescription refills as authorized.
  • Educate patients on medication administration and pre-/ post-operative instructions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy per HIPAA.
  • Open and close duties and other tasks as assigned.

They assist with both clinical and administrative tasks, contributing to the efficient operation of the practice.Work Hours: Monday - Friday: 8AM to 5PM`Roles and ResponsibilitiesAbility to perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.Other diagnostic testing such as: Visual Aids, OCT, Corneal topography, etc...Providing phone support with request for prescription refills as authorized by the physician.Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, such as HIPPA guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.Assists with opening and closing duties.Other duties as assigned.Experience RequirementsOne-year experience in a customer facing position preferredMedical related experience preferredProficient in MS Word, Outlook, and ExcelProficient in use of internetEducation RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED preferredPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
