Job summary

Carpenter Co. is seeking an Operator A for Rolls Manufacturing in Temple, TX. The role starts on the 1st shift at 7:00 am with overtime as needed to meet daily production goals.

Duties include operating Loop Slitter and Convolute machines, meeting quality specs, and maintaining safety and efficiency. Forklift certification is required or will be provided.   • Ability to lift or move foam pieces 35–50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Loop Slitter and/or Convolute to meet daily production schedules.
  • Maintain a safe, neat work environment and follow operating standards.
  • Verify equipment operation and report problems to supervision/maintenance.
  • Perform minor machine adjustments and prepare foam slabs for loading.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Record data in the recording system and follow production schedules.
  • Communicate with management to ensure proper labeling of produced rolls.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Operator A, you will be expected to be responsible for the efficient operation of a Loop Slitter and/or a Convolute machine to produce quality cut foam material to meet a daily production schedule for external customers.

Forklift certification required and will be provided.

Position must maintain daily communication with Quality Control, Department Manager and department personnel to make sure that the needs of all internal and external customers through scheduled cutting instructions.

The position works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes and loud noise. Major challenges include the ability to produce product based on internal and external customers demands and specification and operating a forklift in congested confined area where other forklifts are operating and other employees are working and walking.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have the ability to read a basic tape measure.
  • Must have basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Must have some computer experience and be able to use a computer in day to day operations.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must have the ability to perform minor maintenance on the machinery.
  • Must have the ability to become a Certified Forklift Operator.
  • Must be able to lift or adjust heavy pieces of foam - 35 to 50 lbs.
Essential Functions:
  • Must be able to read and completely understand the labeling process and read and write English.
  • Must maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
  • Operates the Loop Slitter and/or the Convolute within the established operating standards.
  • Verify proper operations of the equipment and report problems to the Supervisor and/or maintenance.
  • Manual adjustments depending upon the product specifications.
  • Prepares foam slab material, by cutting and gluing, as necessary, for loading material properly in the machines.
  • Provides minor maintenance on the Loop Slitter
  • Conducts quality checks on all materials to ensure the product meets all specifications.
  • Monitors the equipment to make sure that downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Records pertinent data into the recording system.
  • Must follow a prepared production schedule to cut slabs of foam into useable components for internal and external customers.
  • Must follow work instructions to maintain quality requirements.
  • Must adjust the cutting schedule to insure the most efficient use of each slab of foam.
  • Must communicate with management to insure the proper labeling of produced rolls.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
