Job summary

Carpenter Co. is hiring a Team Operator to support cutting operations in a dynamic manufacturing setting. You will follow programs and customer specifications while ensuring quality and efficiency in production.

The role requires basic math, tape measure reading, and the ability to work with little supervision. We offer tuition reimbursement and a profit-sharing plan as part of our comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior machine operator experience preferred.
• Forklift certification is a plus and provided training.

Responsibilities

• Perform cutting operations according to programs and customer specs.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure product meets specs.
• Unload finished foam and transport to the next area.
• Place excess trim material in baler and secure material.
• Maintain communication with line personnel to minimize downtime.
• Record program data and other pertinent information.
• Cross-train to operate additional cutting equipment as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision.

The successful candidate will maintain daily communication with Quality Control, Department Manager, and other employees in the department to ensure the needs of all internal and external customers as outline by the production schedule are met. The position works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Your Additional Responsibilities As The Team Operator Will Include

• Perform cutting operations according to programs and customer specifications
• Perform quality checks on materials to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
• Unload finished cut foam material and transport to next production area.
• Place excess trim material in baler.
• Maintain communication with line personnel to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum
• Record pertinent information of programs.
• Operate baler - bale and secure trim material from baler.
• Cross-train to operate other cutting equipment as needed.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by supervision.

Skills / Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior experience as a machine operator.
• Forklift operator certification preferred.
• Specific on the job training is provided.
• Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
• Must have basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Schedule may vary dependent upon project needs.
