Job summary

Quanex Building Products Corp. is seeking an Operator 1 for the 3rd shift (10:45pm–7:00am). The role operates various manufacturing equipment to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards. Training provided; may be reassigned to different machines as production needs dictate.

You will follow SOPs, perform basic setup and changeovers, monitor equipment performance, and conduct quality inspections. Physical work includes standing, lifting up to 50 lb, and occasional overtime.

  • Perform basic setup, changeovers, and adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report issues to maintenance or supervision.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area (5S).
  • Willing to work overtime including weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various manufacturing equipment according to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Assist in setup, changeovers, and minor adjustments to machinery.
  • Monitor production output and report abnormalities to supervision.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections for product quality.
  • Maintain 5S in the work area and support lean improvements.

The Operator 1 is responsible for operating various types of manufacturing equipment to produce high-quality products in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity standards. Once trained and qualified, the operator may be assigned to different pieces of equipment or workstations based on production needs.

What Success Looks Like:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Adhere to all safety policies and wear required PPE
  • Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output.
  • Ability to identify any issues with the product or process.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor
  • Following all safety procedures and guidelines along with assisting in modifying and updating procedures
  • Operating a forklift for various functions.
Your Credentials:
  • One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • High School or GED preferred
  • Willing to work overtime including weekends as needed
  • Knowledge of general computer skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, and use upper extremities while occasionally sitting, crouching, and bending.
  • Ability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds and perform necessary job tasks.
The hourly rate for this position is $18 per hour, plus $1.00/hour shift differential.
3rd shift - 10:45pm - 7:00am
