Quanex Building Products Corp. operates a Drop Mill Unit on the 3rd shift, 10:45pm–7:00am, Sunday–Thursday. The role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to run the mill, monitor output and maintain safety standards.

Qualified candidates typically have 1–2 years in manufacturing, a high school diploma or GED, and basic computer skills. The position offers a competitive hourly rate with a small shift premium and opportunities for overtime and growth.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Willing to work overtime including weekends.
• Knowledge of general computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Cool off, mix and process compounds through the mill within allowable specifications.
• Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Maintain quality control by monitoring production output.
• Identify issues with the product or process.
• Identify the correct batch being milled.
• Keep belts, pans, and knives clean between compounds.
• Follow safety procedures and assist in updating procedures.
• Operate a forklift for various functions.

The primary requirements of the Drop Mill Operator are to cool off, properly mix and process compounds through the mill within allowable specifications.

What Success Looks Like:

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Necessity for attention to detail.
• The ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output.
• Ability to identify any issues with the product or process.
• Correctly identifying the correct batch is being milled.
• Ensure belts, pans, and knives are always cleaned between compounds.
• Following all safety procedures and guidelines along with assisting in modifying and updating procedures
• Operating a forklift for various functions.

Your Credentials:

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• High School or GED preferred
• Willing to work overtime including weekends
• Knowledge of general computer skills.

The hourly rate for this position is $18 per hour, plus $1.00/hour shift premium for 2nd and/or 3rd shift.

3rd Shift 10:45pm-7:00am
