Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Jonesborough, TN is seeking an Operations Technician to join our Manufacturing Operations team.

This role supports multiple programs on site and reports to the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor, with 2nd or 3rd shift and hours of 10–12 per day, including overtime as needed. Responsibilities include operating and setting up complex machinery, reading blueprints, inspecting parts, collecting SPC data, and maintaining quality and traceability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with 0–2 years of related experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
• Ability to interface effectively with Operations and support groups such as Maintenance, Quality and Engineering.
• Able to work in a team environment and on 10+ hour shifts, including overtime and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up machinery and shop equipment including lathes, engravers, presses, mills, furnaces, automated welding, forging machines, swagers, painting booths, engine lathes and disassembly equipment.
• Read inspection gauges and CMMs; inspect in-process and post-process products.
• Read blueprints and drawings; fabricate parts to customer specifications.
• Maintain part traceability and tag rejects; perform rework as needed.
• Collect and analyze SPC data; prepare daily production reports.
• Communicate status of processes, machines, and products to next-shift personnel.
