Our Operations groups are the core of all activity at the Firm and have significant impact across the lifecycle of a trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders such as Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with our external client base, playing a key role in the overall client experience. We have a client relationship group dedicated to overseeing service performance and strategic partnerships with top tier clients, where we play a key role in supporting global clients to ensure they have a first-class experience when doing business with Citi. Our roles entail ensuring we operate in a robust control environment, whilst in a fast-paced workplace. We comply with global regulations and internal policies and adopt a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to reduce risk through the continuous evaluation of our controls; to protect our clients, the firm, and our reputation. We work closely with our external global peers, partners, and regulators, and play an integral part in leading an agenda at the forefront to optimize and streamline processes and drive strategy across our industry.

Team/Position Overview:

The Collateral Management team sits in Margin and Collateral function in Markets Operations. The function spans 5 regions and is split into 2 teams, one is the daily oversight of the collateral funding and projections at Tri Party and Central Banks supporting the fixed income and equities finance desks. This is a business critical function managing very large collateral balances, transactions and transits. The other is an optimization middle office that monitors and executes on collateral optimization opportunities at CCPs, Tri Party agents and central banks. The main responsibilities of the collective team are to help mitigate risk, comply with regulatory requirements, whilst delivering best-in-class capabilities in margin and collateral management, inventory management, risk management and collateral efficiency.

The Collateral Management team are at the start of a huge multi year growth and transformation agenda. This role will oversee NAM Operations and play a critical role in the delivery and execution of objectives to uplift the risk management of the function, design and execute the strategic transformation of platforms and process initiatives, delivering on risk reduction and commercial key results.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collateral Management & Optimization
    • Oversee the collateral, funding, projection and optimization process to ensure efficient allocation and utilization.
    • Manage internal and external relationships to enhance collateral efficiency.
    • Monitor and report on key risk indicators related to collateral and funding operations.
  2. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements governing collateral and liquidity (e.g., LCR, NSFR, SEC Rule 15c3-3).
    • Work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure transparency and compliance.
    • Maintain oversight of regulatory obligations and changes.
  3. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
    • Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on collateral, funding & optimization.
    • Act as a key liaison between trading desks, treasury, risk, operations, and senior management.
    • Present improvement ideas, risk management updates, and market insights to leadership.
    • Drive process automation and technology enhancements.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a Collateral or funding area with a strong appreciation of margin regulations, securities products, practices and risks, and/or product/service design, execution and delivery of large strategic change programmes. Preferably at large financial services firm.
  • Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise demonstrated success interacting with senior business, operations and technology stakeholders.
  • Innovative, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical solutions.
  • Thinks logically and is good at problem solving.
  • Result orientated.
  • Able to write clearly and concisely. To present ideas and proposals to senior decision makers without technical jargon.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and a strong risk management mindset, demonstrated through implementing sound controls and processes.
  • Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation.
  • Strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives, maintaining a balanced and fresh viewpoint.
