Job summary

Ferrous Processing and Trading, a business of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, seeks a Supervisor in Pontiac, MI to manage scale house and metal processing operations, ensuring accurate transactions, safety, and efficient performance. You will lead daily activities, train staff, and coordinate with yard personnel and customers.

The role requires 3+ years in related INDUSTRIAL setting and 1+ year of supervisory experience, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three (3) years of experience in scrap recycling, metal processing, manufacturing, logistics, or a related industrial environment.
• One (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Working knowledge of scale house operations, scrap metal grading, and yard operations preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems, scale software, and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily scale house and metal shop operations.
• Lead, train, schedule, and support employees while maintaining accountability and performance standards.
• Ensure accurate weighing, documentation, and processing of inbound and outbound materials.
• Coordinate activities between scale operators, yard personnel, equipment operators, and customers.
• Monitor scrap receiving, sorting, grading, and shipment activities to maximize efficiency.
• Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Resolve operational and customer service issues related to material transactions and processing.
• Maintain accurate records, inventory controls, and operational reports.
• Conduct workplace inspections and support equipment maintenance efforts.
• Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
• Assist management with process improvements and achieving operational goals.
