Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to plan, schedule and coordinate routing and movement of customers’ freight across our service centers. The role emphasizes efficient operations, safety, and cost-conscious decision-making.

You will lead a team of drivers and dockworkers, monitor performance, coordinate deliveries, and assist with billing, rating and freight analysis while developing Center personnel and ensuring excellent customer communication.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the LTL/ Transportation industry.
• Experience managing drivers and dockworkers.
• Knowledge of the surrounding geographic area to the Service Center.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, coordinate and implement routing and movement of freight.
• Compile production and service records and measure conformance to standards.
• Inspect and measure personnel performance to improve operations.
• Review logs and reports and coordinate with shift personnel for scheduling.
• Set up appointment freight deliveries.
• Perform and/or assist with billing, rating, manifesting and analysis of freight weight and size.
• Maintain communication with customers.
• Recruit, interview, hire and develop Service Center personnel.
• Ensure Service Center premises are protected and maintained.
• Assist in safety incident investigations and corrective actions.
