Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is seeking an Operations Supervisor to plan, schedule, coordinate and implement efficient routing of freight. You will oversee staff performance, ensure safety compliance, and maintain strong customer communication in a busy service center environment.

The role requires leadership of drivers and dockworkers, program oversight for operational standards, and proactive problem solving to keep operations economical and error-free.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the LTL/ transportation industry and operations.
• Experience supervising drivers and dockworkers.
• Familiarity with the Service Center area and surrounding geography.

Responsibilities

• Compile production and service records and measure conformance to standards.
• Inspect and measure performance of personnel to improve operations.
• Review logs and reports and coordinate scheduling and support needs.
• Set up appointment freight deliveries.
• Assist billing, rating, manifesting and analysis of freight weight and size.
• Maintain excellent communication with customers.
• Assist training, development and evaluation of staff performance.
• Recruit, interview, hire and develop service center personnel.
• Ensure premises are protected and maintained.
• Investigate incidents and support corrective actions.
• Follow DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
• Facilitate information meetings with service center teams.
• Handle special assignments as directed.
