Job summary

Granger Waste Services in Alma, MI, is seeking a capable leader to oversee the hauling team. You will drive safety, route operations and staffing excellence to ensure on-time service and high customer satisfaction.

The role requires coordinating daily staffing, coaching direct reports, and partnering with cross-functional teams. Flexible hours include early mornings and occasional Saturdays, with growth opportunities within operations.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum 1 year of experience in waste industry or related field.
• CDL-B with airbrakes and forklift license required (or ability within 3 months)
• Good driving record with fewer than 5 points; meets safety requirements
• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred
• Basic skills in Microsoft 365: Word, Excel and Outlook
• Self-motivated with strong communication and people-management skills

• Set clear expectations, coach and complete performance reviews
• Manage timekeeping, PTO requests and payroll coding
• Coordinate daily and weekly staffing plans and workflow priorities
• Promote a culture of safety and lead investigations of incidents/injuries
• Build strong relationships with team members through daily communication and recognition
• Support recruiting, onboarding and training for new associates
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on work orders and operational needs
• Lead or participate in meetings, maintain documentation and follow up on actions
• Ensure efficient route operations through scheduling and route monitoring
