Job summary

DSV – Global Transport and Logistics in the USA is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Newton to oversee day-to-day freight handling, coordinate with carriers and customers, and ensure timely, compliant operations across air, sea and road.

You will lead a team of freight handlers, manage tasks, monitor performance, maintain accurate documents and inventory, and uphold safety and quality standards while reporting on KPIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in freight operations or logistics roles, with supervisory or leadership positions.
• Knowledge of freight handling processes and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise freight handlers and operational staff.
• Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor performance to ensure efficient operations.
• Coordinate the loading, unloading, and handling of freight shipments.
• Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and packaging of goods in compliance with regulations.
• Plan and prioritize freight operations to meet customer demands and deadlines.
• Monitor workflow and adjust resources as needed to optimize efficiency.
• Liaise with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders to coordinate freight movements and address inquiries or issues.
• Ensure timely communication and resolution of customer concerns.
• Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and integrity of freight handling processes.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high standards of service quality.
• Enforce safety protocols and procedures to promote a safe working environment.
• Conduct safety training and provide guidance on proper handling techniques.
• Oversee inventory control processes, including stock management, cycle counts, and reconciliation.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure compliance with inventory management policies.
• Prepare operational reports, including performance metrics, inventory levels, and incident reports.
• Maintain accurate documentation of freight movements, including bills of lading and shipping manifests.
