Job summary

The Armstrong Company is seeking an Operations Supervisor to manage warehouse activities including receiving, storing, staging, picking and loading of customer products. You will allocate resources, plan scheduling, and drive process improvements while partnering with admin and quality teams to meet deliveries.

We value safety, effective delegation, and clear communication to complete tasks on time. The role requires HR-related tasks, coaching, and participation in safety and housekeeping

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role or 5-7 years in warehousing/distribution/fulfillment operations.
  • Associate degree with emphasis in Logistics/Supply Chain or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operational team members to meet customer demands and daily schedules while following safety and process guidelines.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and promotion of direct reports.
  • Complete annual reviews for direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with HR, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Provide training to perform duties safely and effectively, and manage incidents.
  • Support in employee discipline and performance improvement plans.

Job description

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the activities and staff of the warehouse which include receiving, storing staging, picking, and loading of customer products. Proper resource allocation of personnel and equipment, planning, and follow-through are factors for operational success. Proper communication and delegating skills will be essential to complete all work on time and accurately. This role will partner with administrative staff and quality to meet customer deliveries as well as improve process execution. Creating a safety-first culture and housekeeping are critical responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversight of all operational team members to meet customer demands and daily scheduled activities while complying with all safety and task-specific processes.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and promotion of direct reports.
  • Complete annual employee reviews for direct reports.
  • Understand and comply with all HR, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Provide all skills and training required to perform duties safely, create awareness, and manage incidents as they may occur.
  • Support in employee discipline and personal improvement planning [PIP].
  • Contribute to weekly employee huddle meetings reviewing operational goals and objectives.
  • Champion safety awareness consistent with those established by safety leaders and enterprises.
  • Enforce both pre and post-use inspections of all material handling equipment.
  • Report defects to the operations manager in a timely manner.
  • Report all incidents timely to proper leadership to reduce company exposure.
  • Collaborate with quality leaders to conduct root cause analysis and provide corrective action for defects within operations.
  • Participate in housekeeping walks to meet all requirements under the policy.
  • Influence and motivate others to reach operational and quality goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar role and capacity.
  • Associate degree with an emphasis in Logistics/Supply Chain Business or 5-7 years of verifiable experience in a similar warehousing, distribution, or fulfillment operation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products.
  • Ability to lead, delegate, direct, and motivate others.
  • Self-starter, energetic, and passionate about roles and responsibilities.
  • Sound decision-maker with the ability to set and deliver on priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • This position requires physical stamina and the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work long hours on one's feet and regularly walk, bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
