Job summary

PGT Trucking, Inc. is seeking an Operations Specialist to coordinate daily freight activity and align customer requirements with loads, equipment, and drivers.

You will build productive relationships with customers, drivers, terminals, and internal departments to support timely pickups and deliveries and maintain accurate shipping records. The role emphasizes resolving service issues, promoting safe and profitable operations, and staying aligned with company safety policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Must have transportation experience to be considered.
  • Must be a hunter who strives to close new business.
  • Must be able to work with little to no supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit, process, and coordinate shipment requests from existing and prospective customers.
  • Match available freight with equipment and drivers to provide dependable service while maximizing operational efficiency and driver revenue.
  • Secure, organize, assign, and preplan loads; provide routing, pickup, and delivery instructions; and keep drivers in efficient, profitable lanes whenever possible.
  • Monitor pickup and delivery schedules, coordinate rescheduling when needed, and promptly communicate service disruptions to customers, drivers, terminals, and customer service.
  • Respond to customer and driver questions, problems, and complaints with timely, practical resolutions.
  • Coordinate with other terminals and internal departments, including Billing and Traffic, to address freight needs, order details, and unbilled loads.
  • Maintain complete and accurate computerized shipping records as close to real time as possible.
  • Track load status and operating results, identify opportunities to improve workflows or systems, and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as required by business needs or assigned by management.
