Job description

The part-time Operations Specialist – Geneva Training Center is responsible for the management of the Geneva Training Center during operating hours. Ensures that personnel sign in prior to using driving track and firing range. Responsible for the general maintenance of the range facilities.

Responsibilities

The part-time Operations Specialist – Geneva Training Center is responsible for the management of the Geneva Training Center during operating hours. Ensures that personnel sign in prior to using driving track and firing range. Responsible for the general maintenance of the range facilities.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures that the Geneva Training Center is open and closed during scheduled operating hours.
  • Monitors usage of driving track and firing range. Ensures that personnel using the driving track and firing range sign in on designated forms.
  • Posts official notices and bulletins on the information board. Relays pertinent information to other staff and Criminal Justice Training Center leadership.
  • Inspects the driving track and gun range each day to ensure it is clear of debris and equipment is functional. Repairs track and range or contacts maintenance for assistance.
  • Performs general maintenance of the grounds, building and facilities to include cutting, edging, and trimming grass and plants.
  • Maintains College driving track vehicles by completing general maintenance and minor repairs, to include oil changes, tire repair and replacements. Works with SSC Automotive Department staff, or commercial repair facility for maintenance and/or repairs to criminal justice vehicles.
  • Inventories and orders required supplies for College vehicle operations and firing range target system.
  • Inventories driving track and firing range equipment on an annual basis.
  • Ensures only authorized individuals and agencies utilize the range and follow the College’s scheduling procedure.
  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Related work experience involving interaction with the public or as a team member.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license or a valid driver’s license from another state with the ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the operation of a driving track and/or firing range facility.
  • Previous experience involving facilities, general maintenance, and repair skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor and maintain rapport with personnel at all levels of authority at the College and with law enforcement officials.
  • Knowledge of standard tools and equipment for maintaining driving track, vehicles, and grounds.
  • Ability to plan and organize job responsibilities and priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT And SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Works primarily outside and is exposed to sun and other weather conditions.
  • Must be able to operate grounds maintenance equipment and work outside for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

Pay Benefits And Work Schedule

$17.02 hourly up to 26 hours per week.
