Job summary

Labcorp is seeking an Operations Scientist I in Chantilly, VA to support bioanalytical workflows and study documentation. You will prepare samples, operate routine equipment, and collaborate with project managers and lead scientists to meet timelines.

The role emphasizes accurate data, GLP-compliant documentation, and effective communication. A strong lab background and proficiency with common software (Word, Excel) or LIMS will help you succeed in this position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 2+ years of lab experience.
  • Experience with lab equipment (balances, pipettes, centrifuges).
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation (gas, liquids or solids).
  • BS/BA in chemistry or biology (preferred).
  • GLP documentation experience (preferred).
  • Computer experience (Word, Excel) or LIMS (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct bioanalytical sample preparations.
  • Document work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records.
  • Communicate with project managers, lead scientists, and supervisor on projects daily/weekly.
  • Order consumables for projects as needed.
  • Plan assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively schedule multiple assignments.
  • Provide detailed sample analysis and inventory updates to project managers and lead scientists to ensure projects meet agreed upon timelines.
  • Set up, operate and perform routine and non-routine maintenance on general equipment.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings.
  • Support process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
  • Participate in client visits as needed.

Job Description

Work Schedule - Mon - Fri (Day Shift)
Job Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma with 2 years or more of laboratory experience
  • Experience using laboratory equipment (e.g., balances, pipettes, centrifuges

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science/Arts (BS/BA) degree in chemistry, biology
  • 2 years or more experience working in a laboratory setting (e.g. balances, pipettes, centrifuges etc.)
  • GLP Documentation experience
  • Computer Experience (e.g., Word, Excel) or LIMS

  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
