Manager of Operations Quality

Location: Andover, MA (350 Lowell St, Essex Building)

At RTX, we are seeking a Manager of Operations Quality to join our Circuit Card Manufacturing (CCM) Team in Andover, MA. The role ensures product and process quality with an emphasis on product compliance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of operations quality engineers and hardware specialists, including staffing, coaching/mentoring, performance reviews, and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Engage with factory leadership to align priorities for the team and maintain on-site presence.
  • Ensure effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform verification and validation of process improvements to gauge effectiveness.
  • Baseline factory metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand, and identify improvement opportunities, ensuring clear identification, control, and disposition of nonconformities.
  • Analyze production trends using data analysis and statistical process control methods.
  • Lead manufacturing team discussions to drive process enhancements and reduce variation.
  • Lead and drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control plans, SPC) using baseline metrics, performing verification/validation of improvements to prevent defects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) or related technical field and a minimum of eight (8) years of quality engineering, continuous improvement, or related experience.
  • Project management experience, including managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in first‑article inspection reports (FAIRs), quality monitoring, and leading root‑cause corrective actions in a cross‑functional matrixed environment.
  • Experience developing or using quality metrics that drive true root cause and long‑term corrective action, and in identifying and instituting perceptive verifications.
  • Experience with manufacturing process knowledge, quality systems, and industry standards (ISO9001, AS9100, and/or AS9102), interpreting drawings, work instructions, BOMs, consumable material controls, process disciplines, and tool control.
  • Prior experience in quality or process engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong familiarity with J‑STD‑001, ISO9001, AS9100, AS9201, Six Sigma, CORE, Lean tools, and ASQ certifications.
  • Ability to facilitate cross‑functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g., Six Sigma, lean manufacturing).
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) / AS9145, utilizing tools such as PPAP, Key Characteristics, DFMEA, PFMEA, and/or Control Plans.
  • Experience with SAP/PRISM or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools.
  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight, including requirements, build, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Experience in Product/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Regression Analysis.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Existing U.S. DoD Secret (or higher) clearance.
Security Clearance

U.S. citizenship is required. A U.S. government‑issued DoD Secret security clearance is required and must be obtained and maintained after day one.

Salary and Benefits
  • Salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 USD.
