Job summary

Prattwhitney is seeking an Operations Quality Engineer for its Andover, MA facility. This role requires U.S. citizenship and involves managing factory metrics, leading process enhancement initiatives, and collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure quality standards are met.

Job description

Location: Andover, MA, USA
Role: Operations Quality Engineer – Onsite (U.S. citizenship required)

What You Will Do
  • Baseline factory metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand for top drivers and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
  • Engage manufacturing defect prevention teams to ensure alignment on top priorities (using baseline data and future forecast) to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Implementation.
  • Perform process walks, operator observations, and lead manufacturing team discussions to drive process enhancements to reduce variation.
  • Lead/Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC, etc.) using baseline metrics and future demand with the ability to perform verification/validation of improvements and efficiencies.
  • Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to the Supplier Quality Management team.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or other technical field of study with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Experience in identifying root cause, initiating/implementing effective short‑term and long‑term corrective actions in a cross‑functional process improvement environment.
  • Experience in development/usage of quality metrics that drive true root cause and long‑term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications.
  • Experience in manufacturing process knowledge with industry technical standards, interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • J-STD-001, Six Sigma, Lean experience and/or ASQ certifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques.
  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping.
  • Able to facilitate cross‑functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g., Six‑sigma, lean manufacturing).
