Job summary

RTX is seeking a senior Quality Engineer to manage the disposition of quality escapes, drive root cause analysis, and support defect reduction across the manufacturing and supplier network. You will work with Quality Inspectors, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Engineering to ensure product conformity and effective corrective actions.

The role requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of related experience, with proficiency in RCCA, ISO9001/AS9100 environments, and data-driven quality

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering and quality systems.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Experience in ISO9001 or AS9100 environments and RCCA / 8D problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and ability to lead cross-functional improvement activities.

  • Support returns processing, defect reduction, and quality performance reporting.
  • Lead cross-functional investigations and problem solving using RCCA methodologies.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and supply chain to ensure product conformity.
  • Collect and analyze quality data to identify risks and minimize workflow disruptions.
  • Participate in CORE activities, MRB, and new product introductions (NPI).

What You Will Do
  • Manage disposition and resolution of quality escapes, customer complaints, and related nonconformance activities.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support returns processing, defect reduction activities, and quality performance reporting.
  • Conduct process walks, operator observations, and facilitate cross‑functional discussions to reduce nonconformances and escapes.
  • Lead investigations of defects, work stops, and turnbacks using RRCA, RCCA, QCPC, PFMEA, and similar methodologies.
  • Partner with Quality Inspectors, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to support daily production and ensure product conformity.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data to identify risks, eliminate nonconformances, and minimize workflow disruptions.
  • Participate in CORE activities, MRB, and daily/weekly quality clinics.
  • Participate in new product introductions (NPI) by reviewing design documents and validating manufacturing processes.

Qualifications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, system engineering, manufacturing & quality systems, technical supplier management, MRB processes, nonconformance management, and RCCA (Root Cause & Corrective Action).
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, and/or test).
  • Experience in identifying root cause and initiating/implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience working in ISO9001 or AS9100 environments.
  • Six Sigma, continuous improvement techniques, problem‑solving processes (RCCA, DAISE, 8D).
  • Strong skills in quality metrics, data analysis, and trend identification.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work independently or within cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Capability to work with minimum supervision and demonstrated strong performance in current role.
  • Travel up to 10% (or up to 25% depending on program support).
  • Experience in quality engineering within manufacturing or aerospace.
  • Experience supporting design/manufacturing processes and working with cross‑functional teams.
  • Familiarity with statistical process controls, APQP/AS9145, PPAP, FAI (AS9102), and quality planning tools.
  • Experience coordinating with product and functional teams in manufacturing or development environments.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to lead cross‑functional improvement activities.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with suppliers and customers.
