Job summary

RTX is hiring for an on-site manufacturing quality engineer focused on inspection, disposition of non-conforming material, and continuous improvement within a DoD-cleared environment. The role emphasizes adherence to IPC/WHMA-A-620, JSTD-001, MIL-HDBK-454, and ISO/AS quality standards.

The position requires a AAA/AS degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, ability to obtain a DoD security clearance, and familiarity with defect prevention and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires an AAA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with manufacturing processes (assembly, inspection, and/or test).
  • Experience reading technical documentation, technical data packages, and/or work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect product to be compliant IPC/WHMA-A-620, JSTD-001, and MIL-HDBK-454.
  • Non-conform and disposition non-conforming material on the floor.
  • Perform walk-back feedback to assemblers and inspectors when findings occur to reduce recurrence of escapes.
  • Participate in MFG DPT meetings to align on top priorities to drive containment and corrective actions.
  • Perform process audits, process walks, and operator observations to drive improvements.
  • Identify supplier escapes/issues and coordinate with the Supplier Quality Management team.

What You Will Do
  • Inspect product to be complaint IPC/WHMA-A-620, JSTD-001, and MIL-HDBK-454
  • Non-conform and disposition non-conforming material on the floor.
  • Perform walk-back feedback to assemblers and inspectors when findings occur to reduce recurrence of escapes
  • Participate in MFG DPT (Defect Prevention Team) meetings to ensure alignment on top priorities (using baseline data and future forecast) to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation.
  • Perform process audits, process walks, operator observations, and participate in MFG team discussions to drive process enhancements to reduce variation.
  • Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to the Supplier Quality Management team.
  • Perform verification and validation of improvements to understand effectiveness.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires an AAA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience is working with manufacturing processes (assembly, inspection, and/or test)
  • Experience reading technical documentation, technical data packages, and/or work instructions
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620, JSTD-001, and MIL-HDBK-454
  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
  • Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications
  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing)

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 60,000 USD - 114,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
