Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Business Operations Coordinator within the Offices of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. The role provides administrative, logistical, and project-based support to the office and division of Student Affairs.

The position requires strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, with experience in coordinating programs, policies, and workflows.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience required; 3+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Prior project management experience preferred.
  • Prior higher education experience preferred.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage daily business operations to meet departmental, divisional, and student needs.
  • Lead project management tasks by creating assignments, tracking progress, and resolving issues.
  • Act as operational lead in the absence of the director.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members with regular feedback.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication and meetings.
  • Participate in department, divisional, and university programs and committees to support strategic priorities and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
