Rio Tinto in North Carolina is seeking an Operator to oversee the day-to-day operation of the chemical processing plant to safely meet quality and production targets.

Reporting to the Production Lead, you will participate in Process Safety activities and operate area equipment using various control systems, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must have technical diploma or associate degree in Chemical Process Technology, Industrial Chemistry, or related field.
• 2+ years of relevant manufacturing experience required.
• Ability to operate multiple circuits and run more than one unit when needed.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving using logical methods.
• Good oral and written communication; safety awareness and compliance with hazardous waste handling.

Responsibilities

• Collect and interpret process information for troubleshooting and make process changes as needed per SOP.
• Complete permits and job walk-downs for maintenance and contractor work (Lockout/Tag-out, Safe Work, Confined Space Entry, etc.).
• Actively participate in the Behavior-Based Safety program.
• Drive forklift to move material to and from process areas.
• Sample and test process samples using LQM and adjust accordingly.
• Perform productivity maintenance tasks using basic hand tools.
