Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking an Operator to run chemical processing, packaging and material handling equipment in our facilities. You will work with fellow operators and management to achieve production goals safely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Production Lead, you will participate on safety teams, handle waste responsibly, and perform maintenance-related tasks including permits and lockout/tag-out procedures, while contributing to incident reporting and risk reduction.

Qualifications

• Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Technical diploma or related certification in Chemical Process Technology or similar field.
• 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to operate multiple circuits.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Ability to operate all area equipment and run more than one unit when required.

Responsibilities

• Participates on the PERT team as an entry member.
• Handles hazardous wastes during generation, transport, storage, or spill response activities.
• Suppresses fires inside and outside of buildings.
• Administers basic first aid.
• Performs standard duties related to fire suppression, hazard spill response, emergency response, and rescue operations (PERT).
• Completes all applicable permits and job walk-downs for Maintenance and Contractor work (e.g. Lockout/Tag-out, Safe Work, Confined Space Entry).
• Enters near miss or incident reports into SIMS database and contributes to root cause analysis.
