Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines, Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee efficient routing, P&D, and dock operations at our Memphis service center. You will lead supervisory staff, ensure safety standards, and drive improvements in productivity and customer satisfaction.

The role emphasizes recruiting, training and coordinating with multiple departments to sustain on-time service and cost-effective freight movement for our clients.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the LTL/ Transportation Industry.
• Has managed Drivers and Dockworkers.
• Knowledge of the surrounding geographical area to the Service Center.

Responsibilities

• Develop methods and procedures for the most efficient and economical routing and movement of customers' freight within service center budget guidelines.
• Utilize TEAM System for P&D and Dock Operations and trailer utilization reports to maximize resource capabilities.
• Prepare and compile daily, weekly, monthly production and service records and measure conformance to service center objectives.
• Observe, inspect and measure proficiencies in service center personnel to determine changes in work practices and/or procedures.
• Review logs and reports and confer with shift supervisory personnel to ascertain scheduling and requirements.
• Maintain superior internal and external customer relations, consistent with company policies.
• Assist in training, development and evaluation of supervisory and production personnel work performance.
• Recruit prospective subordinate employees, including screening, qualifying and interviewing in conjunction with Service Center Manager.
• Inspect Service Center facilities for conformance to safety and cleanliness standards.
• Coordinate with Line Coordinator on line haul schedules to ensure on-time performance.
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure service center activity alignment.
• Issue directives to coordinate movement of expedited, late or special freight.
• Assist in safety program compliance and accident investigations with Director of Safety.
• Contribute to regular service center meetings to share performance, trends and plans.
